10 Comics Where You Couldn’t Help But Root For The Villain
1. Evil Ernie
An undead, all-powerful psychotic killer whose amassed powers could destroy the world, Evil Ernie is the epitome of early nineties antihero. Think The Mask (the proper comic book one, not the watered down Jim Carrey version), but with ambition and scale. This is a guy who once stole the US's nuclear arsenal and blew up the world, with the help of his very own zombie army.
Created by Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes in 1991, Evil Ernie has been through various incarnations, from the now-defunct Eternity Comics all the way through to his current home at Dynamite Entertainment. Though Evil Ernie's home and origins story may fluctuate, one thing remains consistent - his evil. The word is right there in his name.
But no matter what mayhem and violence he might inflict upon the world, Evil Ernie remains an absolute hoot, and a comic book villain we truly can't help but love.
