10 Controversial Batman Comics DC Wants You To Forget

2. Stan Lee's Batman

In November 2001, the moons and stars aligned, and us mere mortals were graced with a collaboration between DC and Marvel that let us see what Batman could have been like were he initially created by Stan Lee himself. Although very different from the classic Dark Knight backstory, Lee created a shockingly engaging and well-rounded Batman - which could be the first reason DC would prefer you didn't think about it so often.

While it would be sacrilege to change Bruce Wayne's story at such a late date, the re-imagining does raise some important points about the man behind the mask. Wayne Williams - while clearly not a perfect character from the name alone - does seem to have more of a life outside of the mask than his canon counterpart. While comics have made it apparent that Bruce is often the mask Batman hides behind, it would perhaps be a pleasant change to see him function as a little more than that.

Also, the main villain's name is Handz Horgum, which is the only real flaw in the comic - because anyone named that is pretty hard to hate.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
