10 DC Supervillains That Vanished Without A Trace
1. The Ghost
One of the first villains Superman faced that had superpowers was Brett Bryson AKA The Ghost. If that name sounds uncreative, his costume is worse. His outfit is simply a white sheet with two slits for eyes. It looks like a Halloween costume made by a child!
Bryson worked at Chalmers Laboratory until he seemingly died in a radium explosion. However, the accident didn't kill Bryson and instead, endowed him with a deathly radioactive touch. Bryson takes on the guise of The Ghost and starts committing robberies around town.
Superman learns that the accident which gave Bryson his powers is also killing him. It turns out his boss, Chalmers, orchestrated the accident and convinced Bryson to steal money. Although Bryson believes the money is for his wife after he dies, Chalmers intends to keep it for himself. When Bryson learned this, he kills Chalmers before dropping dead.
The weird thing about this story is that Superman doesn't have to be in it! If the superhero was absent, this comic would work as a revenge story with Bryson as the anti-hero, (similar to Darkman or Spawn), trying to exact his revenge on the one who left him for dead.
