10 DC Supervillains That Vanished Without A Trace

9. Charma And The Chainsman

The Spook Batman
DC Comics

In the Legion of Super-Heroes story, The Trillion Dollar Trophies, Superboy and Timber Wolf learn that someone has broken into a power plant. When the heroes arrive, they meet the burglars, Maxx Grimbor the Chainsman and Charma.

Chainsman can lock and unlock anything and so, has declared himself "master at bondage". His partner, Charma, is a beautiful woman who unconsciously compels women to hate her but urges men to protect her. She uses her power to tame Superboy and Timber Wolf, allowing Chainsman to tie them up.

The Legion eventually captured the two supervillains and send them to jail. Since Charma's power forces women in her proximity to hate her, the inmates beat her to death.

The duo have an interesting dynamic. Since Chainsman is a master at locks and chains, he can break in virtually anywhere. If he encounters any guards, Charma uses her... eh... charm to seduce them. Although Chainsman appeared occasionally in comics since (most recently in Final Crisis in 2009), Charma has been absent from DC stories since the 1980s, which is a shame. She has such an interesting power, it would be cool to see her be reintroduced in the future.
