10 DC Supervillains That Vanished Without A Trace

4. The Snowmen From Space

The Spook Batman
DC Comics

Strange Adventures #79 begins with a kid called Joey waking his brother up so they can go for a swim. When they walk outside, the two boys are baffled to learn that it's snowing. Since it's too cold to swim in the lake, the children decide to build snowmen instead.

That night, energy-beings from the planet, Pluto, (well, ex-planet), possess the snowmen and begin their assault on Earth. They intend to create an Ice Age that will kill humanity but climatise the world so it's suitable for the Plutonians.

When a scientific investigator called Darwin Jones learns of the alien invasion, he does everything in his power to stop them. If you thought the Snowmen were defeated with fire, you would be wrong. Grenades, guns, and rockets also prove utterly ineffective against the invaders.

The Snowmen are beaten... with cold. It doesn't make sense but if it did, it wouldn't be a comic book, would it?

Also, the reason why the Plutonians want to freeze Earth is because they can't survive for very long in warm weather. If that's the case, why move to Earth? Why don't they just stay on Pluto?
