10 Disturbing Mysteries Superheroes Couldn't Solve

4. Why Can't Doctor Strange Heal His Hands?

We all know that Doctor Steven Strange wound up being the Master of the Mystic Arts at the end of a long hunt for a way to heal his hands. Ultimately, he never did heal them, but he was able to go on to become the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, so it wasn't all bad.

If you're a typical reader, you might be wondering, if he's so powerful, and has the ability to travel to other dimensions, project massive amounts of energy, and go toe-to-toe with the Hulk, why can't he repair his hands? He's been shown to heal others, but for some reason, his own injury remains unhealed.

To be fair, there have been a few instances throughout his tenure in the Marvel Universe where he has healed his hands. In one, he takes a spell from a demon and heals them so he can save a life. Of course, it doesn't last, and there was a price to pay.

In the forthcoming Doctor Strange: Surgeon Supreme, he's supposed to heal once more, but it's not expected to last. After all, his infirmity is part of what makes him who he is, but it doesn't stand up to logic that he hasn't figured out a way to permanently heal his hands after all these years.
