10 Dumbest Changes Made To Iconic Comic Characters
4. Supergirl/Matrix
The second Supergirl was brought in to replace the original after she was erased from existence during 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'. She was a shapeshifting clone from an alternate dimension who took on a form which conveniently happened to resemble someone who had never actually existed. Things only got weirder from there.
After a whole weird time dating Lex Luthor disguised as his own son, Matrix did some soul-searching. This ended up being more literal than she intended when she met Linda Danvers. Linda was viciously attacked by her boyfriend as part of a sacrifice in a demonic ritual (this is probably why so many people stick with tinder). Matrix tried to help by shapeshifting to seal her wounds but, in the process, the two ended up fused together.
Moving very quickly away from that last sentence, the Matrix/Linda hybrid could now switch between forms, fighting crime as Supergirl and living a normal life as Linda Danvers. But, as time went by, things only got crazier.
Suddenly Supergirl was actually an angel thanks to the ritual and had fiery wings. Then Matrix was an angel and Linda was just Supergirl. Only then Matrix was gone and Linda was actually an angel and also in Hell.
Thank God DC eventually brought back Superman's cousin Kara and abandoned this whole mess.
