Marvel ComicsSpeaking of Amazing Spider-Man, there's a fair old chance that you're interested in reading more stories about Curt Connors, aka The Lizard, aka the Welsh guy who danced around in his y-fronts in Notting Hill. The comic book Connors doesn't look a whole lot like Rhys Ifans, and in fact his character has changed a fair bit over the course of his history. The Lizard has been around nearly as long as Spidey himself, debuting all the way back in . His monstrous transformation was triggered by the same thing - a failed attempt to grow back his amputated arm - but it's only recently that he's become the vicious beat we saw on screen. In the Shed storyline Curt Connors has gotten to the point where he can keep his scaly alter ego at bay by popping lizard suppressant pills. Except he starts working beneath a new jerk of a boss who stops him from taking them, which means he eats him. And stuff gets more gruesome from there, as he eats some more people, sheds his skin and becomes a new, bigger, scarier Lizard...who can never turn back into his human form. A good companion to the movie, and a decent introduction to the current status quo of one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains.
Where to read it: The Amazing Spider-Man: The Gauntlet Vol. 5 Lizard & Kraven has this story and one other that tie the arc into a larger (and way more complicated/not friendly to new readers) story that isn't necessary to enjoy this one
