2. TMNT: Jennika - Brahm Revel
It's odd to think that in all the years the Turtles have been around, there have been very few new additions to the half shell heroes and literally no female turtles to be seen. Sure, there was Venus in the 1997 live action series, but that didn't last very long and she didn't make it to the comics. Image Comics even had a "no female turtles" rule, even going so far as advertising "No Girl Turtle Guaranteed" on some issues.
Thankfully, the industry has moved forward since then and IDW had absolutely no issue when in TMNT #95, a brand new turtle was introduced. Enter Jennika, and enter a frenzy not seen in comic history for a very long time.
A former member of the Foot Clan, Jennika nearly died at the hands of Karai as the first act in a war to retake the Foot from Splinter. As hope faded and all other options failed, Leonardo infused his blood with Jennika, saving her life but causing her to mutate and become the 6th turtle.
Jennika's solo series follows her life as she tries to acclimatise to being a mutant and confronts her troubled past as well as her conflicted present. An unmissable read for any TMNT fan.
