10 Most Exciting Writers Working In Comics Today

1. Charles Soule

Charles Soule is the sort of person who could make even the busiest and most creative artist in the world feel a bit lazy, and please indulge us while we explain why this is. Soule is one of the most prolific writers working in comics today, and at one point in early 2014 was writing as many as seven ongoing monthly titles at the same time (Superman/Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Red Lanterns, She-Hulk, Inhuman, Thunderbolts and Letter 44). Soule did finish up with Thunderbolts in May 2014 and concluded his run on Superman/Wonder Woman in November, but he has replaced these titles with the not-insignificant task of crafting a satisfying demise for Wolverine, arguably Marvel's most popular character, in the aptly titled Death Of Wolverine miniseries. This volume of projects is pretty incredible on it's own, especially when you consider that other writers tend to tackle, at most, 3 or 4 at any given time. However, when you also find out that Charles Soule has a whole other full-time job as a lawyer who runs his own practice in New York City, that's when you start to think he must be a dabbler in the dark arts who has managed to add more hours into every day of the week, because that's just insane! Oh, and he is also a musician who has played in several bands around New York over the years. You know, for kicks. We think Charles Soule is the most exciting writer working in comics today because the man must be some sort of mutant. How else do you explain his ability to maintain the high quality output of his many creative outlets, while also, you know, practising law? Unbelievable. What say you? Have we left any other exciting writers off our list? Sound off in the comments section below.
