8. Black Mask
Origin: Not so much of a lesser-known villain, but rather an easily forgotten one, Roman Sionis was born to very neglecting parents, who cared more about their social status than their son. In fact, the Sionis family was very wealthy and owned the Sionis Steel Mill and other industrial ventures. Sions' hatred started out against Bruce Wayne, who bought out Sionis Industries when it was failing and thus left Roman Sionis on the streets. This meant that he turned to crime, wearing a dark, originally wooden, skull mask. As Black Mask, Sionis quickly became one of the leading crime bosses in Gotham and amassed an enormous fortune through his criminal activities.
Abilities: Roman Sionis is still only human and has no special abilities or powers.
First Appearance: Black Mask first appeared in Batman #386, where he started killing Wayne employees due to the fact that Wayne Industries had bought him out. In the subsequent battle with Batman, the mask was permanently burned onto Sionis' face, leaving him with sever scarring that prevented the mask from being removed.
