These two young heroes would found the Teen Titans in 1965 as Robin and Kid Flash receptively after teaming up with Aqualad a year prior. As early young proteges of members of the Justice League, the two would form a strong bond in addition to the familial connection with their fellow Titans.

The two would maintain their friendship through some of the biggest events of their lives as they would age and mature. From West's temporary retirement due to a progressing power related illness to Grayson's split with Batman and eventual adoption of the Nightwing moniker the bond the two heroes shared would not be broken.

Even after Wally West would be forced to take on his mentor's title after the latter's demise in 1985's Crisis On Infinite Earths and joining the Justice League, the two are still shown to continue to be great friends. West would even join the now adult incarnation of the Titans alongside Nightwing in 1999 and again 2008.

The two were also revealed, in a 1997 one shot titled Flash Plus Nightwing, to take an annual road trip together well into their adult careers.
