Most people think Professor X is the smartest person at his school, but some would argue that that title should go to non-other than Hank McCoy.

Beast has been considered by many to be one of the smartest Marvel characters to ever grace a comic book. He's concocted all kinds of crazy experiments - most of which on himself - developed gene altering serums, and designed the Blackbird jet the team flies around in.

Besides being a genius, Beast was a founding member of the X-Men and added a mutant to the group possessing the strength and agility of an animal. He also has superior hearing, sense of smell and speed, as well as having berserker strength.

With all that power and smarts, people sometimes forget that Beast is probably the most charming and sociable member of the mutant squad, which is understandable given his very intimidating appearance.

But just because he can be a teddy bear doesn't mean anyone should underestimate him. Hank's tenure has been very unpredictable and he tends to be a wild card in whatever situation he finds himself in. Beast is a loveable roll of the dice that is undoubtedly X-Men Hall of Fame material.
