Upon meeting Damian for the first time in Batman and Son, it's pretty difficult not to dislike him.

In the comic, Damian explains to Batman that he ought to be the only Robin due to his training with the League of Assassins, along with the fact that the Dark Knight is his biological father. Batman, though, isn't the least bit convinced (not that this stops Damian from taking the Robin mantle by force).

After severely injuring Tim Drake, the current Robin, Damian then steals his uniform, dons it, and finally proceeds to galavant around Gotham killing villains.

Clearly, this self-entitled brat of a Boy Wonder was going to rub people the wrong way. Thankfully, this was just the beginning of Damian's arch, as he would see real development following Final Crisis as the Robin to Dick Grayson's Batman, with Bruce Wayne having passed away.

During this period of time, Damian's tough exterior was slowly chipped away to reveal the human interior that lied underneath. Fans have loved him ever since.
