10 Horror Comics That Prove Not Even Reading Is Safe
2. Ice Cream Man
Ice Cream Man is, for all intents and purposes, a grown-up version of Goosebumps – deceptively innocent name and all.
Each issue is its own contained storyline – again, much like the children’s horror show – which is something of a treat in practice, as each one is essentially a tiny horror film, with a kind of twisted moral to match each story. The way Ice Cream Man is different from Goosebumps, however, is almost impossible not to recognise – namely, that it has some god damn terrifying visuals, that would categorically not be allowed on daytime tv.
Because, for all its initially wholesome appearance, Ice Cream Man is one of the most honestly unnerving comics to exist on this mortal coil. Behind the wholesome suburban setting, and seemingly sweet visage of an Ice Cream Man, exists pure, unfiltered nightmare fuel – and it’s totally awesome.
