10 Iconic Comic Book Characters (Without Legendary Comics)

5. Ghost Rider

Blade Marvel
Marvel Comics

One of Marvel's most badass superheroes, the Ghost Rider has garnered quite the reputation over the years for being one of The House Of Ideas most intense characters. Shame the same can't be said of the stories he's featured in.

Sure, Robbie Reyes' run came achingly close to reaching truly great heights, but it was cancelled due to low sales before anything truly amazing could come of it. It's a lot of fantastic setup, but no payoff. Before that, we had Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch, who had decent lifespans, but lacked appeal beyond the base concept of being Ghost Rider. Which, granted, is a damn awesome base concept.

Despite this, though, the character of Ghost Rider has remained one of Marvel's most recognizable faces. And the idea of him has been the jumping off point to a lot of really good stories, even if they aren't quite in legendary status.

But with interest about to be renewed in the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider with the upcoming Hulu series, maybe that will be what marvel needs to be convinced that this hero needs his own legendary series or story.
