10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Captain America You Won't Believe Exist

10. Age Of X

Age of X Captain America
Marvel Comics

The Steve Rogers of Age of X is terrible, and that's because he's a horrid, anti-mutant bigot who works for the government as its mutant-finder general.

In this reality, the Avengers are actually a group of heroes assembled to hunt down mutants. Their sole purpose is pretty grim, and though Rogers ends up changing his views on the group midway through the story, having stumbled upon a nursery of mutants after hunting them mercilessly all those years before, there's no getting away from the fact this version of the character is genuinely quite nasty.

Ultimately, Rogers' redemption is completed when he chooses to sacrifice himself in order to stop this version of the Hulk from laying waste to a mutant base.

At least his suit looked snazzy?
