A dying planet, a race on the verge of extinction, and a man desperate to see the survival of his kind, launching the last remaining essence of his people into space. Sounds familiar? Well, it’s not the one you’re thinking about. Because you see, Superman was not the only one who escaped the destruction of his planet and found his way to the earth, the same also happened with an alien wardrobe from the planet Schwab.

With his planet about to be destroyed, Brum El sends his finest collection of attires into space, hoping that at least it will survive, for some reason. As the wardrobe glides its way through the cosmos, it encounters an alien spice spider. Whether the clothes get Spider-Man’d or the spider loses a fight against a pair of boots remains unclear, but two articles survive and crash land on earth. One of which was the Ambush Bug suit that is found by a man named Irwin Schwab.

Irwin dons the suit and is subsequently imbued with powers such as teleportation. He is initially a villain, causing mild annoyances to the likes of Superman. After some time spent in Jail, Schwab escapes and decides to turn over a new leaf, becoming a hero instead.
