10 Insane Marvel Superheroes You Won't Believe Exist
3. Captain Confederacy
There are few heroes made by a major brand that are quite as contentious as that of Captain Confederacy, a hero based in an alternate universe wherein the Confederacy won the American Civil War, and yes, it's exactly as bizarre as all of that sounds.
For those not versed in the Civil War, the issue with the superhero being related to the Confederate flag lies in the fact that it's synonymous with slavery and white supremacy - meaning that it's maybe the single worst idea for a superhero costume the human brain could possibly conceive.
While this theoretically leaves Captain Confederacy the alternate universe equivalent of Captain America, the insensitivity of making the Confederate flag into a costume leaves the whole thing with a super surreal, Twilight Zone kind of feel - which isn't the kind of vibe you want to accidentally show up where it isn't supposed to be.
With renewed efforts to see the flag removed from public monuments, it's no real surprise that Captain Confederacy has been entirely dropped from Marvel production.
