10 Insane Times Heroes Became Horror Villains

6. The Punisher - Franken-Castle

Vampire Batman Murders Scarecrow
Marvel Comics

One many Marvel fans - and most likely Frank himself - would rather was kept out of the history books, is that time the Punisher was resurrected as Franken-Castle.

Chopped up into tiny bits by Daken - the evil son of Wolverine - it seemed as though Frank had finally been put down for good. Living vampire Morbius had other ideas though, and patched the big guy back up to create... Franken-Castle.

Sigh.

This most unlikely of antiheroes joined forces with Morbius and his Legion of Monsters to keep a team of Japanese monster hunters at bay. The joke didn't last long though, and, as ever, Frank was eventually re-resurrected and returned to the usual business of shooting gangsters in the face in no time at all.
