10 Insanely Dark Batman Moments The Movies Won't Show You

9. Batman Leaves KGBeast To Die

Joker Robin Damian
DC Comics

For the storyline of Batman #420, the tale of Batman fighting the KGBeast is surprisingly serious. Not only does the pair's initial confrontation results in the villain cutting off his own hand, but their second sees Batman trap Anatoli in an underground sewer chamber, sealing the Russian assassin away in an old abandoned subway tunnel - with the implication being that the Dark Knight is going to leave KGBeast there to die.

Though Batman does eventually call the police to recover the villain, this is only actively addressed in another comic - meaning that Bruce's decision to leave him there was actively retconned when writers suddenly became aware of how much that would make Batman basically the villain from Saw.

While an edited version of the comic could sneak its way into a film, there's minimal chance of one of DC's holy trinity getting his first attempt at murder featured on the big screen - unless the DCEU ends up getting somehow even darker.
