10 Iron Man Graphic Novels You Must Read Before You Die

9. Doomquest

Iron Man Alex Ross
Marvel Comics

On the surface, Tony Stark and Victor Von Doom share some similarities. They both clad themselves in armor and use their powers for whatever purposes they deem necessary. Doom is slightly more evil than Stark, but the two characters have much in common. That being said, they barely interacted with one another before "Doomquest" hit the shelves in 1981. The story was originally published in Iron Man #149-150 and #249-250, which are collected in this volume.

When the two are finally paired in a story, it's at the hands of David Michelinie, Bob Layton and John Romita Jr., but not in the setting you might expect...

Doom and Iron Man find themselves transported back in time to Camelot, which absolutely exists in the Marvel Universe! Doom allied himself with Morgan Le Fay while Stark paired up with King Arthur and the two set to battle one another on the ancient plane of Arthurian legend.

In the end, they realize they must work together to return to their own time, but throughout the story, there is action, adventure, and two über intelligent technical geniuses going up against one another. This is a great story for fans of Doom as well as those looking for a grand adventure starring Iron Man.
