10 Lame Comic Book Villains (Who Are Actually Incredibly Powerful)

7. Chemistro

Sportsmaster DC Comics
Marvel

While later generations of villains would redeem the moniker, the first Chemistro was a laughable villain.

Debuting in the Luke Cage comic line, Curtis Carr was a prodigious scientist who developed a gun that could transmute matter. When the tech company he worked for claimed ownership of the device, something they had the legal right to do, Carr went ballistic, donned a stupid costume, broke into his lab, stole back his gun, and went on a crime spree.

That might sound intimidating at first, but it was as successful as he ever was as Chemistro. In his very first fight with Cage, he literally shot himself in the foot and turned it to steel.

In prison, he was bullied by a fellow inmate into giving up the secrets of his gun, allowing them to become the next Chemistro upon breaking out of prison. Carr would later become a good guy who would help Iron Man, Cage, and Iron Fist whenever their worlds intersected.

But while he may have a generic backstory and a lame career as a supervillain, he also basically mastered alchemy. Transmuting between states of matter is a god-like ability the he was able to master with technology, something that should have made him a top-tier villain. Instead, he's been more or less forgotten.
