It was recently announced that Steve Rogers is returning as Captain America later this year, so there's no way Marvel will repeat history by having him die so soon after making his triumphant comeback. Iron Man however may not be so safe, and Steve being the one mourning this time would make for an interesting - and somewhat predictable, but this is Bendis we're talking about - parallel to the original Civil War story. With Iron Man leading the charge as the one in the right this time (at least to the majority based on the reaction to those first plot details), having him die at the end of Civil War II may not be massively original, but could work really well in the context of this particular story. After all, what if that comes as a result of a future crime which could have been prevented had he supported what Captain Marvel wanted to use Homer for? That's some cruel irony right there, and with some bizarre rumours doing the rounds that Mary Jane Watson is going to don his armour at some point, Iron Man might be getting a pretty major makeover soon anyway.
