9. Eddie Brock

The second and perhaps most famous user of the Venom symbiote is Eddie Brock, who's recently fallen back in favour with the outfit in the character's most recent comic.

A villain-turned-anti-hero-turned-villain-turned-hero, Eddie's relationship with the symbiote is perhaps the most interesting of all the hosts. The character did, of course, debut as one of Spider-Man's biggest villains, consumed by a feud that had previously seen Brock fired as a staffer at the Daily Globe after the wall-crawler rubbished one of his investigative reports.

Following his encounters with Spidey, Eddie and the black suit would depart for San Francisco. There, he rebranded himself as a 'Lethal Protector', fighting crime as an anti-hero and even teaming up with Spider-Man sporadically over the course of the nineties - most often against his psychotic sibling, Carnage.

Afterwards, Brock turned heel again and killed Sandman, but he's back in the web-slinger's good graces, having reverted to his more heroic ways in the build up to Sony's upcoming Venom film starring Tom Hardy.
