10 Marvel Duos Who Will Never Meet In The MCU

9. Deadpool And Captain America

Captain America Wolverine
Marvel Comics

Despite his Canadian origin, Deadpool has an uncharacteristic amount of respect for Captain America, a feeling that is mostly mutual. While they have vastly opposing personalities, goals and methods (as demonstrated in the hilarious ‘Etiquette Lesson’ section of ‘Baby’s First Deadpool Book', 1999), they each see something in the other worth admiring.

Wade looks up to Cap as a role model, a fellow soldier granted experimental powers by his government, but one who uses those powers responsibly and as a leader. Cap sympathises with Wade, understanding his traumas and struggles towards being a hero.

That isn’t to say they have a perfect friendship. The pair came into conflict during Joe Kelly’s Deadpool run, the first ongoing series for the character. The comic is worth reading for full context, but the dispute leads to a hilariously shocking panel depicting the merc with the mouth kicking the star-spangled man swiftly in the crotch.

Since then, they have teamed together on many occasions, and Deadpool was even unwittingly taken into Captain America’s Hydra during that infamous storyline. Deadpool is heading to the MCU, but since Steve Rogers' story has come to a definitive close, this partnership will remain in the pages of comics.
