10 Massively Underrated DC Villains
1. Ultra-Humanite
Ultra-Humanite started life as a mad scientist designed to be the polar opposite of Superman, a criminal mastermind with a crippled body.
He was actually one of the first supervillains ever created and served as Superman's archenemy until he seemingly died in 1940 and was replaced by Lex Luthor. In-fact, Lex's change from a redhead to his iconic bald look is thought to be due to an artist getting the two characters mixed up.
Ironically, Ultra-Humanite wasn't even bald at the time. One of the villain's main claims to fame is transplanting his brain into a new body. For reasons probably best left to himself, Ultra-Humanite spent most of his early career using the body of film actress Dolores Winters.
Ultra-Humanite returned during the 70's and became a recurring foe for the Justice Society of America. He also transplanted his brain again into a variety of different bodies, the most well-known and commonly used being that of an albino ape
The character's most devious scheme came during the storyline Stealing Thunder. Ultra-Humanite again transplanted his brain, this time into the retired superhero Johnny Thunder and gained control of his near-omnipotent genie. He used Thunderbolt to transform the world into a single hivemind and only a ragtag group of heroes were left to oppose him. The heroes eventually undid the spell, but it resulted in the death of Golden Age hero the Crimson Avenger.
