10 Messed Up DC Villains You Won't Believe Exist

6. Black Hand

Junior Secret Six
DC Comics

Because William Hand's parents were morticians, he had been around death for as long as he could remember. When he stumbled upon his father's mortuary lab as a child, he saw a dead body for the first time. Instead of running away in terror, Hand was comforted by the carcass's still gaze and felt at peace around death ever since.

Believing his pet dog, Marbles, would be more beautiful if it was dead, Hand stuffed it himself.

Due to his increasing morbid curiosity, his family disowned him. Crafting a costume from a body bag and arming himself with alien technology, he became the supervillain, Black Hand. Years later, extra-terrestrials endowed him with a deathly touch, making him even more efficient at killing.

After being defeated time and time again, he lamented his failures while sleeping in an open grave.

However, he found new purpose when an evil entity called Scar vowed to make him the physical embodiment of death if he rid himself of his humanity. As a result, Hand slayed his entire family before blowing his brains out. This allowed Scar to resurrect Hand as a being that could control the dead.
