10 Most Brutal Comic Book Villains

1. Willy Pete

Sin City
Dark Horse Comics

Of all of the rogues and rascals included in this feature, Willy Pete is likely the least well-known of the bunch. But while he may not have quite as much mainstream popularity as other characters, Willy Pete makes up for that by being one of the most vile characters in comic book history.

A 'big bad' of Adam Warren's Empowered title, Willy Pete is a fire-based being who carries out some unspeakable things. Willy Pete is the lowest of the low - and with ridiculous powers thrown in, to boot!

In terms of those powers, Pete is essentially a living ball of nuclear-level fire. While having that power attributed to a villain is never great for the rest of existence, what makes it worse with Willy Pete is the fact that he's a full-on sexual predator in addition to being a callous murderer.

Due to the sheer extremes of his abilities, anyone who comes into contact with Pete usually ends up being turned into a pile of ash. He himself has revealed, though, how he likes to rape people and listen to their screams and flaming anguish as a way to get himself off.

Now you can see why, even if you've never heard of him before, Willy Pete is scarily worthy of inclusion on this list.

Even murder and rape isn't the end of it for Willy Pete, for he has also been known to eat people - and he often targets superpowered sorts as the victims of his rape and murder fantasies, as they put up more of a fight than regular folk.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
