10 Most Disastrous Comic Book Misprints

5. Tales Of Suspense #92: Captain America The Coward

Spider Man S Weiner
Marvel Comics

Captain America is beloved by millions of people because of the values he represents. He’s the ideal superhero thanks to his fortitude, his integrity, his sense of right and wrong, and above all else, his never-give-up attitude. Except, of course, when a misprint causes the star spangled boy scout to give up without a fight.

There’s something hilarious about Captain America starting one of his epic do or die speeches and then unintentionally falling flat on his face with it. It’s safe to say that these panels weren’t what the writer intended, or at the very least the writer lost their train of thought mid-sentence and forgot how words work. Though the last word was meant to hit hard, it lands with a thud and makes the reader scratch their head.

“And it won’t be me” really encapsulates the perfect disastrous misprint simply because it’s so simple. It’s one word swapped with another, but the result changes the entire outlook of the issue and, if you want to really look into it, the character of Cap as a whole.

Jake Black writes the funny, weird, interesting things that you love reading. He's super cool, really famous, and everyone likes him. He's never once been punched in the face by Johnny Depp on a ferry traveling to Southampton, England.
