10 Most Disastrous Comic Book Misprints
6. Amazing Spider-Man #1: Peter Palmer?
There’s two ways to look at the not-so-infamous spelling of Peter’s name in Amazing Spider-Man #1. The first way is that, when Stan Lee referred to Spider-Man's alter ego as Peter Palmer, it was simply a typo or a mind-slip. The second way is much more sinister and changes our lives considerably; especially since this was the first issue of Spider-Man, not to mention that the “misprint” was included not once, but twice.
So maybe the real misprint has been in the following 55 years of Spider-Man comics? Maybe he really is Peter Palmer, and Peter Parker is some insane mistake that’s been spiralling out of control despite Stan Lee’s protests for decades?
Whichever way you look at it, Peter Parker’s first stand-alone issue didn’t really give him the respect he deserved. Considering that Parker and Spider-Man went on to become the most famous and beloved alter-ego/superhero combination of all time, it’s shocking to think that something such as “Peter Palmer” made it into the issue.
In fact, the whole thing is basically the world’s first Adele Dazeem.
