10 Most Disgusting Comic Book Deaths

Marvel Zombies Return manages a feat that few zombie comics can brag, as it manages to up the bar on the already high level of gore that the undead generally bring to any given series.

And while the majority of the no holds barred violence is between those who are already dead, the single worst death in the whole comic is had by the unfortunate living Spider-Man, as he's mistaken for his universe-hopping zombie counterpart, who had been systematically murdering and devouring all of the living web-slinger's enemies.

Sure he's next to be killed by this rogue, the Sandman immediately goes to defend himself the only way he knows how: via sand. While this sounds funny, what actually happens is far closer to a nightmare, as the villain fills the innocent Parker's body with sand, until his stomach distends and eventually bursts, killing him in the most horrific fashion we may have ever seen in a superhero comic.

It's not got a lot of the disturbing implications that many other messed up deaths have, but in terms of sheer gross-out points, seeing the burst organs of Spider-Man peeking through the sand that killed him is pretty high on the proverbial list.
