10 Most Inappropriate Marvel Comics Storylines Ever
2. Norman Osborn & Gwen Stacy's Children
If only there were no more storylines involving rape within Marvel's history to speak about on this list, but unfortunately that is not the case. Even 20 years after the entire Marcus debacle, there came a story just as horrible and painful to read.
Spider-Man: Sins Past is famous for being one of the most poorly received story arcs in recent memory, and it's not hard to see why. Who could possibly have thought having Normal Osborn fall in love with Gwen Stacy, rape her as the Green Goblin, and father two children with her was a good idea?
Reportedly this was not the initial idea from writer J. Michael Straczynski. Gabriel and Sarah Stacy were originally supposed to be Gwen and Peter's children, but the powers-that-be felt that this would age Peter too much. That's an understandable point, but surely there was a better alternative than this?!
The story was so bad that it was ultimately retconned almost 20 years later, with the children being revealed to be clones created by Harry Osborn and Mysterio as some form of mind games against Norman. Though the story may technically not be a part of Marvel canon anymore, there is no erasing it from history or the memory of fans who had the misfortune of reading it.
