10 Most Inappropriate Superman Storylines

8. Lois Lane, The Marrying Woman

Superman Supergirl Kiss
DC Comics

Lois Lane. Intrepid and fearless reporter. Multiple Pulitzer Prize winner. Respected and feared investigator. And for a significant part of her history, a sneaky conniving woman who would do anything to trick Superman into marrying her. Including marrying his friend, his greatest enemy, and any number of aliens, criminals, and random guys all in the effort to make Superman jealous.

Many of these were imaginary stories, like the time when Lois fell in love with Bruce Wayne and he waited until the wedding night to reveal the truth about his identity. In Superman’s Girlfriend Lois Lane #34, Lois marries a forcibly reformed Lex Luthor in another story. In Action Comics #245, Zak-Kul, a criminal from Kandor impersonates Superman and marries Lois, but when she starts to ask too many questions, he tries to kill her.

Lois married an alien from the far future that convinced her that it was her destiny to marry him and a convict as a death row favor. All of the marriages that happened for real were annulled or forgotten. Lois married Clark for real in Superman: The Wedding Album in 1996, although Lane was never afraid to use marriage as a weapon.
