Ultimatum Magneto Kills Wolverine
Marvel Comics

On Earth-295, Charles Xavier’s son, David Haller, aka Legion, traveled back in time to kill Magneto, but he inadvertently killed his own father and inspired ancient mutant En Sabah Nur to begin a campaign of culling the weak of the world.

This was the beginning of the Age of Apocalypse. To honor his fallen friend, Magnus took on Xavier’s dream of a world where mutants and humans could live in harmony; Magneto brought together a team of mutants he called X-Men to battle the forces of Apocalypse.

After multiple battles where several of the X-Men were killed, including Magneto’s daughter Scarlet Witch, Erik was captured and tortured by Apocalypse to find out his plans. One part of the torture was to have to watch the brutal battle of Magnus’ wife Rogue against the eternal mutant’s own son Holocaust. After freeing captured mutants Illyana Rasputin, Bishop and Destiny, they stormed Apocalypse citadel and freed Magneto.

In X-Men Omega #1, with the assistance of his alternate reality clone Nate Grey, Magneto took the fight to Apocalypse. After Nate beat the ancient mutant viciously, Magnus unleashed the full fury of his magnetic powers against En Sabah Nur. In an act of both righteousness and viciousness rarely seen in Magneto, he ripped Apocalypse completely in half, killing him instantly. Jean Grey saved the planet from nuclear attack and the mutants went about rebuilding their world.
