10 Most Powerful Swords In Comics History
4. God Killer Sword
Deathstroke might be one of the deadliest characters in comics. As a hired assassin, Slade Wilson has taken many contracts and gone toe to toe with many of DC’s heavyweights, giving even Batman a run for his money. A skilled fighter with a penchant for firearms and swords, his weapon of choice is the Deathstroke, a Scottish broadsword that at one point could even absorb energy attacks.
However, the most powerful blade Slade has ever wielded and also one of the coolest weapons in the DC Universe is the aptly named God Killer Sword.
Forged by the Greek blacksmith god himself, Hephaestus, this sword was given to Deathstroke as part of a contract to kill an enemy of the Olympian gods, the Titan Lapetus. The God Killer can strengthen its wielder, produce shock blasts, can be recalled to its owner (much like Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir), repair itself and even read the minds of nearby gods.
It’s also semi-sentient, guiding the mind of its wielder and changing its shape according to its owner’s will. Basically, it turned Deathstroke into DC’s version of God of War’s Kratos. Unfortunately, Slade returned the weapon to Hephaestus once he completed his contract.
