10 Most Quintessential 'Superman Moments' In Comic Book History

5. €œ€Even A Superman€ €” Superman: Peace On Earth

Written by Paul Dini and illustrated by Alex Ross, Peace on Earth is a heavy-handed but deeply moving story about a fictional character trying to solve the very real problem of world hunger. Following a globe-trotting mission to share food with thousands of malnourished people, Superman returns home to find that even his greatest efforts have not been enough. Some people admire him. Others shame and ridicule him. Superman bears the brunt of it all, solemnly reflecting that he has resolved nothing. Today, people have been fed; tomorrow, they will be just as hungry as ever before. It is a somber moment that encapsulates one of Superman's greatest struggles: that even the most powerful man on Earth has his limitations. In his own words, €œTaking on this responsibility was too ambitious for one man ... even a Superman.€ Peace on Earth contains a very humanist and touching message: that change cannot be brought about by just one man. In order to make a true difference in the world, it will take all of us working together toward the same goal.
