Can you picture Count Dracula wearing a barely-there bikini and long black boots instead of his traditional attire of natty cape and dark suit? Probably not. There's only one vampire fashion-impaired enough to mistake a skimpy bathing suit for a costume, Warren Publishing's Vampirella.

Here's what most interesting about Vampirell's costume though: It was designed by a woman.

Costume designer Trina Robbins created Vampirella's famous look for the black-and-white horror comic Vampirella #1 back in 1969. The first cover is an iconic one, showing a nearly naked Vampirella, legs spread, in front of a huge full moon.

Vampirella has evolved since that first issue: She started out as the host of the stories in her own magazine, but since became the actual star of the book, having her own horror adventures. But she never added more fabric to that costume of hers, making her one of the least-dressed mainstream comics stars in history.
