10 Most Terrifying Villains In DC Comics

3. The Night Gods

The Corinthian Sandman
DC Comics

Once every year the Lovecraftian Eldritch horrors known as the Night Gods attempt to cross over onto the physical plane of the DC universe, commanding legions of demonic minions and undead armies comprised of every human who has ever died at sea.

Luckily Aquaman and Etrigan are there every year to prevent the gods from gaining a foothold in their universe, and we've only actually seen them in one comic (not counting the otherworldly gods in Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, which may or may not be the same entities) so it's hard to say exactly what would happen if Cthulu fully emerged in his true form, but we do know that his mere presence drives humans mad.

If aquatic demons and undersea armies of rotted zombies aren't terrifying enough on their own, they're commanded by eldritch deities who are taller than skyscrapers, and whose very existence alters reality around them, and shatters mortals' minds.
