3. Johnny Storm Dies - Fantastic Four #587-588 (2011)
The ruler of The Negative Zone, Annihilus, has repeatedly proven to be one of the most dangerous recurring foes of the Fantastic Four.
As his army expanded exponentially over the years, Annihilus laid waste to entire star systems until he had a reputation as one of the deadliest beings in the cosmos. His army became so vast, it could overpower the collective forces of Earth.
When Annihilus's minions broke out of The Negative Zone to invade the world, Johnny Storm drove them back through a portal. Sadly, he realised the portal between his world and The Negative Zone could only be sealed from Annihilus' point.
To avoid billions of monsters consuming Earth, Johnny had no choice but to deactivate the portal from The Negative Zone, preventing him from returning home.
Outnumbered a billion to one, the Human Torch took down as many of Annihilus' henchmen before being ultimately killed. Even though Johnny is know for his arrogance and immaturity, this was him at his most selfless and heroic.
The worst moment is when Annihilus appears before Reed Richards shortly after, solely to gloat by showing off the tattered remains of Johnny's uniform.
