10 Most Unexpectedly Powerful DC Villains

8. Matter Master

Mark Mandrill is a scientist who has been obsessed with alchemy since he could remember. When he conducted an experiment to turn lead into gold, his chemicals exploded and was thus, considered a failure.

Upon further study, he realised the compound, which he dubbed mentachem, could alter the molecular structure of any object. Mandrill crafted the mentachem into a wand, and became the supervillain known as Matter Master.

When he is in possession of his wand, Matter Master can reshape his surroundings anyway he sees fit. There is no safe or building off-limits to him since he can tear apart any wall with little to no effort.

He could turn a city into a utopia or a hellish landscape with a thought. Theoretically, he could strip apart each member of the Justice League atom by atom, without breaking a sweat.

Despite having the power of a god, he's only made a few appearances in the comics (and one of them was against Scooby-Doo, so that doesn't really count). Perhaps the writers don't utilise Matter Master as often as they could because he is considered overpowered.
