Dark Night - A True Batman Story isn’t a story about Batman per se, but instead a story following one of his writers, Paul Dini. You may recognise this name as co-creator and writer on Batman: The Animated Series and co-creator of the character Harley Quinn, to name a couple of examples.
During his time writing the cult favourite film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Paul Dini was sadly mugged outside his home.
This brilliant autobiographical-graphic novel reveals how Dini coped after his traumatic experience, envisioning familiar characters like Batman, Bruce Wayne, Joker, Two-face and so on, and how they would have acted differently in his situation. A True Batman Story is a heart-wrenching look into the psyche of comparing ourselves to comic book heroes and brings a whole new meaning to “What would Batman Do?”.
