Angela was created by Neil Gaiman and Todd McFarlane for Spawn #9. She was initially an angelic character that opposed the Hell-created Spawn. After a legal battle for the rights to the character that Gaiman won, he sold the character to Marvel Comics where she was retconned to be a long-lost daughter of Odin named Aldrif Odinsdottir.

Angela was believed killed as an infant during Asgard’s war with Heaven which caused Odin to sever Heaven’s connection from the other Nine Worlds. In reality, Angela was actually alive and raised as an angel. She was pulled from Heaven when Wolverine's actions damaged the Omniverse, and she was discovered by the Guardians of the Galaxy, joining the team. Thor learned of her during the Original Sin story arc, and she and the Thunder God were tricked into battling by Loki. She also briefly becomes the new Queen of Hel to save her lost love.

Other than being part of the War of the Realms and a brief stint on the Avenger adjacent team Strikeforce, Angela hasn’t been seen much recently. The problem is that it is difficult to shoehorn her into the “everyday” Marvel Universe story. She doesn’t have an alternate identity or any purpose outside the Guardians or Asgard. She is just one of those characters that have to be in the middle of something epic. There is no subtlety with Angela.
