10 Popular Comics Characters NO ONE Has Done Right

5. Wally West

Red Hood DC Rebirth
DC Comics

Wally West debuted as Flash's partner, Kid Flash, back in 1960, only four years after the introduction of the second Flash, Barry Allen. When Barry died in the 1980s, Wally took on the mantle of the Scarlet Speedster. Even though he was originally perceived as a sidekick, it wasn't long before he was universally recognised as the official Flash.

That all changed in 2008 when Barry returned in Final Crisis. Even though Barry could now reclaim his title as Flash, readers naturally assumed Wally West would still play a major role in the comics. After all, he was Flash's sidekick for 25 years. They weren't gonna just get rid of him, were they?

Yes, that's exactly what happened.

When the New 52 was launched, Wally was erased from history so no one knew he ever existed. When he was finally introduced in Rebirth, he was turned into a killer! Just when you thought the writing team couldn't be more random, West was transformed into Doctor Manhattan!

Considering the popularity of the character is at an all-time high thanks to The Flash TV series, you'd think the writers would be extra careful to get the character right.
