10 Powerful DC Comics Endings That Gave You Chills

5. Madame Macabre's Revenge

All Star Superman
DC Comics

Poor Harleen Frances Quinzel really hasn't had the easiest of times when it comes to love interests. First off there was the Joker who only kept her around as a punching bag but when she finally broke free of his influence and headed to New York it seemed as if her luck might just change in the form of one Mason Macabre.

Sure, when she met him he was on the run from prison after he'd accidentally killed the Mayor's son-in-law but as the series grew it looked like Harley was finally going to find a chance at happiness. That is until the Mayor and his cronies caught up with Mason and kidnapped him. After Harley had gone to save him she was also captured and forced to watch as the Mayor executed Mason via video feed. That last page alone is worthy of inclusion here but it's the following issue that takes pride of place.

After Harley had managed to escape she set out for vengeance and after she had killed everyone protecting the corrupt official she found herself face to face with the man who had ruined her life. But instead of finishing the job herself she left that to Mason's mother and exited the complex with his body, as the Mayor screamed for his life.
