Grant Morrison, Chris Burnham, and Jason Masters' Batman Incorporated is one the most underrated comics from the New 52, and it shows its true greatness in issue eight when Damian dies battling Leviathan.

It's such a gut punch of a moment, especially as the New Robin's just starting to turn people's opinion of him around from the spoilt little brat that he starts out as, to the brave warrior who lays down his life for the greater cause.

As he tries to stop his very dysfunctional from blowing up the world, Damian Wayne fights to the bitter end defending innocent bystanders from a rampaging monster that is his own flesh and blood until the odds become too much for him and he's run through with a sword.

When his father finally arrives on the scene, sadly too late to affect the outcome, Bruce Wayne is shown on his knees with the lifeless body of his son in his arms, a silent scream of agony etched on his face.

And even though Damian doesn't stay dead there's no hint here at any possible resurrection. Taken at face value, he's the second Robin to fall in the line of duty.
