10 Powerful Marvel Comics Endings That Gave You Chills
1. "It's Okay. I Did It." - The Death Of Spider-Man
Sometimes, no matter how hard our heroes fight, they lose. Such is the case of the Ultimate Universe's Peter Parker.
After assembling a new Sinister Six and busting out of prison, the Green Goblin (who is definitely not just the Hulk but on fire) sets his sights on Peter’s home.
Having taken a bullet to save Captain America, which already gave us the iconic image of Cap carrying the wounded Spidey, Peter makes a stand alongside Johnny Storm and Iceman to protect his family.
Outgunned and totally desperate, Peter eventually manages to beat the Six, but is mortally wounded in the process. With just enough time left to Aunt May, he admits that he still feels guilty that he failed to protect Uncle Ben, but he feels that he has at least managed to save Aunt May.
With Peter’s arguably defining characteristic being his guilt, it’s heartwarming to see Peter finally come to terms with it, even if it’s in his final moments. That alongside Aunt May cradling her only “son” in tears is enough to make any grown man cry, and is truly one of the most powerful endings in Marvel Comics history.
