10 Powerful Marvel Comics Endings That Gave You Chills
4. Wolverine Looks At The Sunset - The Death Of Wolverine
They said it couldn't happen. They said they couldn't kill the Wolverine. Well they did... for a bit.
Leading up to Charles Soule’s highly publicised event, Wolverine contracts a virus that prevents his healing factor from kicking in. Of course, this is Logan, so instead of retiring, chilling out with a cigar and a beer and spending the rest of his days on a beach, he instead has to fight against a massive bounty put on his head.
After fighting through waves of assassins, Logan finds out that his assailant is none other than Doctor Cornelius, the head of the original Weapon X programme and winner of the Hugo Strange costume contest for four years running (he’s very proud).
The Bad Doctor had decided that he wanted a redo of the adamantium skeleton experiment, and required Wolverine’s healing factor. After finding out that Wolvie didn’t have one anymore, Cornelius sets his test subjects on Wolverine, causing an explosion that kills Cornelius and coats Wolverine in adamantium.
As the metal hardens, suffocating Wolverine, he reflects on his life, showing the readers his favourite moments from his... varied life. As he looks out into the sunset, he dies content as the reader is left to contemplate the legacy of one of comic’s best characters.
