4. Carnage - Travel Through The Internet
After Venom's spawn merged with the serial killer, Cletus Kasady, it turned him into one of the most psychotic supervillains in the world, Carnage. Carnage has the usual Symbiote powers; shapeshifting, web-swinging, superstrength, and so forth. But in the four-part series, Carnage Unleashed, the title villain proved he had another bizarre ability; he could transfer his Symbiote through the Internet.
The series opens with Kasady learning a company is developing a video game about him called Carnage Unleashed. Because he doesn't like players controlling his virtual self, Kasady inserts his tendrils into a computer's cables, which goes down the phone line, past the switching stations, into computer modems worldwide, allowing him to kill anyone playing the game. (It goes without saying that since this story was written in the 1990s, the writers clearly had no idea how the Internet worked.)
The story concludes with Carnage battling his father, Venom, inside the game, which is displayed on an electronic billboard in Times Square in front of thousands of spectators. I'm not sure how this virtual fight would work since the Internet speed was about 5,000 times slower back then.
