10 Problems With Spider-Man Nobody Wants To Admit

9. His Movies Are Terrible

So perhaps applying realism to a character called Spider-Man is a bit silly, but there's something about the character that nobody can deny: every movie bearing his name has sucked.

From those seventies TV movies, long since forgotten apart from those poor nerds suckered into renting them from the video store as kids, to the ironically-named €œAmazing€ reboot series -€“ all hot garbage.

When Sam Raimi was brought into make a blockbuster, big screen Spidey for the 21st century he... well, he did okay for a little while. His first two movies were a big success, but, looking back, they're kinda terrible. Campy, broad, and Tobey Maguire is hopelessly miscast.

Then you get to Spider-Man 3 and just.. well.

The Andrew Garfield-starring Spidey movies do a damn sight better with the casting of the lead character, with his and Emma Stone's chemistry carrying the series. Because everything else is a mess. From the weirdly pantomime German scientist in the second movie to the unfinished-looking CGI Lizard in the first, it took until Tom Holland's take to get a Spider-Man movie fans could actually be proud of.
